2022 OPEN CALL

The SZ Foundation offers the possibility of participating in the candidacy for artists from all over the world and from all branches of the creation of the visual arts. A quiet and peaceful place where you can concentrate on your creative work, free from distractions and daily duties. Each year the residence accommodates 1 to 3 artists for stays of 1 month.

The artists are chosen by a committee of experts including gallerists, collectors, curators and researchers. The criteria of selection will be, solely and exclusively, the artistic quality and the solidity in the professional career of the resident.

Residences are not aimed at creating / producing a specific work, but rather aimed at the open productive experience (which has an impact on its research corpus and therefore on its trajectory) and its relationship with the increasingly strong Madrid art scene. by Spanish extension.

The requirements for candidature are:

• mid-career artists

• with only shows in institutions, galleries or museums

• with participation in collective exhibitions

• who have won any prize or recognition

• ideally, that explore the relationships with the light field and that the use and attention for the tactile and the material is essential in the development of the projects.

New applications will be evaluated and resolved in October of the previous year. The calendar will be designed taking into account the preferences of the artists and the activities of the foundation. The artist must send a dossier that summarizes his artistic career and that speaks of the project he wants to make during the residency.
