2020 has been a difficult and complicated year for everyone. In our second year of life at the Artists Residence "El Núcleo" in El Espinar, Segovia (Spain) he invited three international artists to enjoy the residency program. Due to travel restrictions due to the Covid crisis, these three artists: David Douard (France), Miller Lagos (Colombia) and Flavie Audi could not come. With our intention to continue promoting visual art despite all the difficulties, the committee decided to invite the Spanish artist MAILLO to spend a month and a half enjoying the residency program. The chosen artist also makes the banner of the main idea of the foundation, which is:

"The artistic direction and the artists involved in the foundation, explore how the manipulation of

materials and mediums transform light and thus it´s effects on perception. “

MAILLO

Juan José Maillo (Spain, 1985) is a painter with capital letters, graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense of Madrid and one of the young promising Spanish.

At just 28 years old, he participated for the first time in Arco, it is part of the Intransit platform, of the Matadero Creators Archive and is part of prestigious national and international collections. This artist full of concerns, has a very thoughtful and orderly working method. His canvases seem like hieroglyphics to interpret, where the artist talks about the complexity of this society and his own experiences.

A nuanced own language that is also distinguished by its characteristic color palette, which it has achieved after a deep study of color and an exhaustive technical refinement.
